1. Acceptance of terms

By using the Vokki app, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to the terms, please stop using the app.

2. Service description

Vokki is a mobile application for learning German. The app includes: a library of stories with parallel text and synchronized audio, a structured German language course with exercises, word memorization trainers (translation, constructor, listening, sprint, and others), vocabulary flashcards with spaced repetition.

The app also includes AI-powered features: spoken practice conversations with an AI tutor, AI explanations of words, forms and phrases, lessons and stories generated from text or video links you provide, and synthetic speech for that content. AI features consume ✦ Funken and are subject to the section "AI features".

3. AI features

Accuracy. AI output can be wrong. Explanations, translations, corrections, generated lessons and level assessments are produced automatically and are not checked by a human. Do not rely on them for anything that matters outside your own learning — official translations, exam preparation decisions, legal, medical or financial matters. Verify important information with a qualified source.

Not a certification. Levels, scores and feedback shown by the app are indicative and are not a recognised language qualification.

Acceptable use. When you type, speak or import text for an AI feature, you must not submit:

  • unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
  • hateful, harassing, violent or sexual content, and never sexual content involving minors;
  • other people's personal data, credentials, or confidential information;
  • attempts to bypass, extract or manipulate the app's instructions or safety filters, or to use the AI for anything other than language learning.

The topic and target words you type to start a speaking practice call are screened automatically and may be blocked. If abuse is suspected, we may review the related records and suspend access to AI features or to the account.

Availability. AI features depend on third-party providers and may be temporarily unavailable, limited, changed or discontinued. ✦ Funken held for a speaking call are returned automatically if the call fails on our side. For other AI actions we aim to return them, but it is not automatic.

4. Account and trial period

You can use the app without an account — all data will be stored only on the device.

To sync progress between devices, you can sign in with Apple or Google. Upon signing in, an account is created and your learning progress is stored on the server.

You can delete your account and all server data at any time through settings.

The app may provide a free trial period from the first launch. After it ends, access to content may be limited.

5. Content and copyright

All content provided by the app (texts, audio, images, courses) is the property of the developer or used under license. Copying, distribution, or commercial use of that content without written permission is prohibited.

Lessons, stories and audio generated for you from your own material are for your personal learning use only. Content you import is covered by the section "Content you import".

6. Content you import

You can import your own material into the app — texts you paste, video links, word lists.

You keep your rights. Importing changes nothing about who owns the material.

You confirm you may use it. By importing, you confirm that you have the right to use that material and that processing it in the app does not infringe anyone's copyright or other rights. You are responsible for what you import. Imports from third-party platforms are also subject to those platforms' own terms.

What you allow us to do. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, translate, analyse, generate synthetic speech from, and display back to you the material you import — solely to provide the features you asked for, for as long as you keep that content in the app. We do not publish it, share it with other users, or use it for any other purpose. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account.

Removal. We may refuse to process, or remove, imported content that violates these Terms or third-party rights.

7. Limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the app will work without interruptions or errors. We are not liable for any damages related to the use of the app.

8. Changes to terms

We reserve the right to change these Terms of Use. We will notify you of significant changes through app updates.

9. Subscriptions and payments

Vokki offers an auto-renewable Pro subscription and one-time ✦ Funken top-ups. Subscription length is one month and renews automatically until cancelled. Pricing is shown in the app and on the App Store and Google Play listings.

Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Vokki does not receive or store credit card data.

To cancel: open Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play → Subscriptions on Android, and cancel before the next renewal date.

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies; Vokki cannot issue refunds directly.

After cancellation, paid features become unavailable at the end of the current paid period. All learning data (progress, vocabulary, custom content) remains preserved.
